Question: Is it possible to obtain a trademark registration covering more than one country?
Answer: Several international agreements coordinate the procedure of filing applications for trademark registration in more than one country. A European Community Trade Mark protects a trademark in all of the member countries of the European Union.
Question: If I do not have examples of my mark as of yet, may I still submit my application?
Answer:
No. The mark must be in use before a trademark or service mark application can be submitted. Two working examples of the mark must be submitted with the application.
Question: Can a business trademark a domain name for future use?
Answer:
It is possible to gain ownership of a trademark by filing an "intent-to-use" (ITU) trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) before actually starting to use the domain name.
